Sewing graduation

With my life moving at warp speed and everyday worthy of being written up as a blog, I realize how hopelessly behind I am in posting special events.  I now offer this special day from Wednesday, November 21, 2012

The graduation of the women from their advanced sewing class.

We gathered in the church to sing, pray and celebrate.

Shake it baby.

Ginger, my ministry partner, reading from the Bible. Matthew 5:13-16

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

As the excited students listen.

Remember that because of Apartheid many of these women never attended school, thus never graduated from anything.

The important aspect of this sewing program is that it is providing these precious women a skill to provide an income for their family.  Praise the Lord.

I've watched this sweet little girl grow up.  She has attended class each week with her mother.

The certificates were presented by (R) Linda the director of Embo Craft (Center) Thandi the sewing instructor  from Embo Craft (L) Bob the benefactor who made these 15 advance classes possible.

One by one the ladies came forward.

Some dancing - so excited.

Big smiles all around.

So exciting.

Happy hugs

Notice the dirt on Bob's shirt.  Bob a long supporter of the people in Ntshongweni had come with his church to build a house for a grandmother caring for 12 orphans.

Pictures, pictures, pictures

Group picture.

Posing by the table of all the items they learned to sew.  Uniforms, bags, sundresses for little girls and many more lovely items.

The bags they presented to us as gifts.

Celebration time with cookies and soda.

God is good all the time.
All the time, God is good.
