Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain.
After a night of heavy rain, on the build site we found this friendly, baby worm. I've seem these so big they look like snakes.
First chore of the morning was bringing cinder blocks up to the house. One of the boys who will live in this house had blocks in the wheelbarrow. Ginger went to 'help' and the whole thing turned over.
Lorna, Nancy came to help upright the wheelbarrow.
How many Lutherans does it take to reload?
One of the younger boys wearing work gloves watched the 20 of us pass blocks along the 'bucket line'.
Twenty? Yes, twenty... 11 Americans - 2 missionaries - one Pastor Thwala - Fiani, the builder - and 5 boys from the house.
After way too many of way too heavy cinder blocks were passed up and into the house, the menfolk began the next task of mixing dirt, cement and water to form the mortar.
The women folk used pieces of rock to smooth the walls. This will make plastering the walls so much easier and nicer. Here is Ginger and Heidi hard at work.
Georgia working on the rows laid yesterday.
Kathy and Lorna scraping the entryway.
These 'smaller' blocks are used for the interior walls.
Doesn't look like much but believe me... that's a lot of cinder blocks!!!!!!!!
Where did I put my trowel?
Unfortunately, I had to leave to deal with life at the creche. The team came to the creche at noon for the weekly chapel and ate lunch there. An extra bonus were the craftsmen who came to sell their wares. The team stated that they were cranking on the house and getting the inside walls up :)
End of day four and God saw that it was good.
