How To Build A House 101 (Day 3)

Unless the Lord builds the house,
    the builders labor in vain.

Psalm 127:1

Wednesday, day three of the house Christ Lutheran Church, Arizona is building for Gogo Shabalala and her 12 orphans.  Day begins with mixing the ingredients for the mortar.  First the dirt...

Then the bags of cement...

Lastly, the water and the stirring.

First thing in the morning was the 'bucket brigade' to bring the ultra heavy cinder blocks to the work site and since I was in the line I couldn't take a picture of all the blocks we moved.  Next, was measuring out and cutting 4 feet of thick wire.

Time to add a bedroom window.

Michael worked ALL day straddling on part of a scaffold patching up the mortar.  I love the double hats.

With the help of a 2x4 and bricks, the level tells us 'well done'.

Lounge window going in with supervisor Fiani setting the 2x4's in place with the help of the level.

Pastor Thwala working the mortar.

Drew was on the scaffold most of the day working the high points.

Corner complete and Ginger Taff cleaning up.

Front of the house at the completed height.  Those are two bedroom windows and the front (and only) door.

Time for more cinder blocks ...  had a quick second to snap this shot of the line.

Lunch time and today we ate INSIDE the house.  Yummy, yummy Chicken ala King, of course as hard as we all were working anything would have been appreciated.

Ginger, Michael and Pastor Frank.

The wall is going up, up, up.

School is out and the children are here to help.

Joe is one of my favorites.

Small window in the 'bathroom' is set.  There will be a small room in the house but notice that there is no plumbing!  No electrical wires!  There will NOT be a toilet, NO bathtub/shower, NO sink in this bathroom.

Inside wall going in.

With the beautiful overcast day, a ton of work was completed today to the Glory of God, who made all this possible.  Thank you Jesus.

End of day three and God saw that it was good.
