Wednesday Chapel Time

"People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” "
Luke 18:15-17

What fun and what a great privilege to lead chapel for the children at the Lutheran Shongweni creche each week.  We began in January (the beginning of the new school year in South Africa) with Adam and Eve and each week clipping through the Bible with another story from the Old Testament.

Jonah on my right with the others on the ship headed Tarshish - before they threw him overboard.

Swallowed... here Jonah sits in the belly of a great fish.

Finally, he arrives in Nineveh and preaches to the people - who are distracted by their sin (I mean the camera.)

We follow a simple outline each week. Opening prayer, 2 songs, Bible story, 2 songs, closing prayer.
Here the children are singing praises to God.

David & Goliath.  I picked the smallest boy for David and the tallest boy (Mpilo) to be Goliath.

I'm pointing asking the translator to tell Mpilo to fall down when he is hit by the paper rocks about to be shot at him.
Ready, aim, fire...
btw: David loved playing with this slingshot that Ginger, my ministry partner, made out of a stick and rubber band.

Goliath is dead and won't be dissing the Living God anymore!  Cutting off his head - great children's story.
Yippee Skippy and Hot Dog we are all so excited that David was victorious with the help of God.  Goliath is dead.

Entering the church from the creche.

Singing the B - I - B - L - E, yes that's the book for me.  I stand alone on the word of God,
the B - I - B - L - E.

Pictured is the creche principal, Moses in the basket, Pharaoh's daughter and her attendants.

Moses grows up to be a man.  Here he is in the forefront with the burning bush and his sheep in the background.

Closing Prayer

Good bye sweet children.  May the scripture planted deep within your heart each week grow to bear the fruit of faith in Jesus Christ your Savior.
